Youth Leadership Forum: Cancelled
The Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) is a nationwide program focused on enhancing leadership, self-advocacy and the philosophy of independent living in youth with disabilities. The YLF in Colorado is sponsored through the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). YLFs typically take place on a college campus for 5 days, and this is often the first time youth with disabilities are away from home. The importance of bringing youth with disabilities together, in person, to network, learn from each other and to develop and enhance their leadership skills is critical to learning these skills.
These past 15 months have been challenging for us all, learning to train, communicate and participate in a virtual environment. The YLF Team has made the decision to cancel the planned 2021 All Virtual Youth Leadership Forum this year as we recognize the vital importance of this event being in person. The work that was done this year will move forward to ensure a positive and amazing YLF in the summer of 2022. If you, your staff, or someone in your network is interested in participating in the planning for the 2022 YLF, please reach out to Jennifer Scilacci, SILC Youth Chair @ email@example.com.
