Employment First Advisory Partnership

Advocates for Employment First believe that all people should be given meaningful, individualized opportunities to explore the world of work, to discover how they might contribute, and to chart a course to employment and greater prosperity. People who want to work, deserve a path to opportunity. What they make of the opportunity depends on them. The State Rehabilitation Council was assigned lead agency responsibility for developing, convening and administering the Employment First Advisory Partnership (EFAP) when Governor Hickenlooper signed Senate Bill 16-077 into law.

CO Statewide Independent Living Council

Advocating on behalf of the consumer, the main goal of the Colorado Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is to promote a strong independent living program that can benefit individuals with disabilities and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation\'s (DVR) mission. The SILC membership represents a broad-based constituency of individuals with disabilities, private agencies and public agencies, and private business. In order to create leadership, empowerment, independence, and equality for individuals with disabilities, the SILC is dedicated to the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream culture of everyday life. The SILC enhances independent living, consumer control, peer support, equality, individual and systems advocacy. The SILC works closely with DVR to develop the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). It also works in conjunction with the network of Certified Centers for Independent Living to accomplish the goals that are recognized in the state plan and to provide technical support. There are currently nine Centers for Independent Living that receive federal and other funding to provide a variety of independent living services.

The SILC is also proud to sponsor the CO Youth Leadership Forum, which will be virtual this year, July 20-22 and July 27-29 from 10:00 - 3:00 each day, aimed at fostering and enhancing leadership and independence skills in youth who are juniors or seniors in high school and up to aged 25. Please go to the CO SILC website for more information.
